After running the very successful Workshop Pottery in the centre of Brighton for
nearly thirty years I recently moved to Aylesbury and set up a new studio
at my Watermead home. The forms and decoration of my work are
influenced by natural objects such as trees, fields and grasses. Many of my
pieces are cut and altered to achieve unique surfaces and profiles which reflect
the undulating landscape around Buckinghamshire.
My ceramics are made from earthenware clay fired to 1130c in an electric
kiln and have reactive glazes to produce individual surfaces. The raku ware
is made from a special blend of stoneware and grog to withstand the shock of
gas firing, reduction in leaves and sawdust whilst still red hot, and quenching.
I have been an artist in residence and taught at schools in England and a
visiting artist in Atlanta, U.S.A..
My ceramics are available from my studio or from – Obsidian Art,
Stoke Mandeville; Aylesbury Tourist Information; i.o. Designers and Makers,
Brighton; and Village Crafts, Forest Row. Commissions welcomed.
